Death comes to us all

To start, let me say that I feel awful for saying what I said about the guppy "hussy". I should have had more compassion. I should have been more understanding.

Sunday morning she was finishing up giving birth to her babies and Sunday afternoon Troy found her floating upside down. I asked the kids if maybe they accidently hit her with the net when they were attempting to rescue the babies from their cannabalistic parents. They both said "no, why?". So, I had to tell them. Both of them ran to Megan's room to see what I was talking about. Megan was quite sad and told me "You know mommy, when fish die I get a lump in my throat". Awww.. Then she asked me if SHE could flush her down the toilet. (Personal funeral?) So, of course I let her. I think having all those babies took a toll on our little friend and she is now with Nemo because all drains lead to the ocean.. Right?

Sorry (or should I say happy) that the mother fish died.. But not to worry - you have lots of new fish that can multiply for you when they grow up!! Mom

My friend, Sandy Plankton, says that it is true that all drains do lead to the ocean and in your little fish's honor - we all sang, "In a big blue world......"
Seriously, I remember when I lost my first goldfish, I got a lump in my throat too. I even put her in a plastic butter container, laying on a bed of tissue. I buried her in the backyard somewhere - it was very sad. Big hugs to the little ones.

That's sad. I remember we had fish for a while but it got to the point where there was a funeral or two a week and we just couldn't take it anymore. :(
